Addiction Orlando
Addiction Orlando and really understanding it’s grip on society is important for all to understand. It affects everyone. There was reported in 2012 (41,502) deaths that were related drug overdoses in the United States. What is this country doing to address and treat the addiction of drugs? The US has not come very far in helping. We offer the same treatment that has been utilized for several decades. These attempts and approaches offer very little hope for those that are the most addicted. You can on one hand count the success rate. Yet still we continue to do the same things over and over again. You can see that the results speak loudly for themselves.
Thirty day treatment centers are based around insurance standards that do not work. Drug companies pushing detox medications that are hardly less addictive than the drugs themselves. Poor to no follow up care in the community is offered. Methadone clinics that are government funded keep people on a heroin based substance. Dr. issued suboxine, another form of heroin is pushed on addicts. This is heroin just in a pill form.

Where To Find Help
Yes there are thousands of places to send your loved one to get “help”. Everyone’s addiction is very unique to that individual. It cannot be treated as a cookie cutter approach. You and your family need the resources to find treatment immediately that works for that individual. The problem is that time is not on the addicts side. They cannot afford to hunt around and try different methods just hoping one will work. That takes to much time and the clock is ticking.
It is imperative that several options for treatment are offered. With multiple solutions to addressing the addiction we see a stronger success rate. There are several modalities working to combat the addiction. Addiction must be treated on a biopsychosocial level. This means that it must address the body, mind and spiritual aspects.

Understanding How The Brain Works
The Pleasure Center of The Brain
Our brain works on almost all levels in order to experience pleasure. This is part of the basis for our survival instinct as humans. Our body is telling us which things are pleasurable to us like food, warmth, and pretty much anything that is keeping us alive.
This is how the brain strives to keep us going and motivated. To make us feel moments of pleasure. The brain is very complex and does this by utilizing a tiny amount of a chemical called endorphin. Our body naturally produces this chemical. The major ones are called dopamine and also serotonin. When we unnaturally offset these balanced chemicals we can quickly become addicted to the overload or rush of these endorphin’s in the brain. Thus causing addiction.
Yes we are responsible for taking the drugs that offset our brains but we cannot be blamed for allowing this offset to create or form an addiction. Understanding this fact is important for addicts as well as family and society. We can cannot control if we are addicted or not but we can control if we decide to use or not.

Modern Day Drugs
Drugs of today are all mainly synthesized and are invented in labs. These drug components such as the poppy plants and coca plants are derived synthetically and are meant to be potent and as powerful as they possibly can be. An addict takes as much as he or she possible can so they can enjoy the euphoric rush. The only problem with this is that is depletes our brains of the natural chemicals and the brain stops producing the chemicals. It thinks that it is working on overload so it stops to compensate for the amount being produced.
Addiction is cruel because it is a never ending game of chasing ones own tail. The addict gets maxed out on the chemicals for a few hours and then feels completely drained and left depressed. The brain has been all drained and is dried up. It is not producing the natural chemical that make us feel happy on our own. We then start to feel not only depressed but desperate and anxious.
The Addict feels they must use again and as fast as possible so they can feel normal. But the catch is that each time the amount needed increases and the person needs more and more to get the effect or the “high”. This is the devastation of addiction which turns you inside out and left not even recognizing the person you once were.

Seek the Help You Need Now
Addicts and families are desperate to find a solution and will try anything to get the help necessary. To quit, I want to add, is nothing short of a miracle.
What does it take to Stay Sober and Clean?
- Commitment to follow directions and to completely surrender to any ideas that you may have. Your thinking does not work and if it did you would be sober.
- Complete acceptance that you need help and you will do what is asked of you.
- Long term help and treatment that is taking you out of the general public. The idea that 30 or even 60 days of treatment can work is a joke. Your brain is foggy and not even close to working correctly for at least a minimum of one year if not two. After the first 30 days you only then start to realize where you are and what is going on around you.
- Willingness to be honest with yourself.
The road to recovery is hard and requires tremendous work and a lot of commitment. It is also necessary for an addict to quickly find the best treatment for themselves. There are many treatments. What matters is that you find the kind of therapy and approach that works best for you.
For the addict the days are numbered. Don’t enable the addict. If your a concerned family member, please seek both individual and/or family counseling. Even if the addict is not willing. Get the help you need.
